The Smoketree Swim and Recreation Club Board is made up entirely of volunteers. They are the engine of SSRC, working behind the scenes to look out for the neighborhood’s safety, maintain the facilities, foster a sense of connection among neighbors, and make Smoketree a beautiful place to live!
Jayne will be using her leadership skills and business acumen as President of SSRC. Prior to her new role as President, she has volunteered as Secretary and Treasurer.
In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors and traveling. Jayne and Betsy live with their lab mix dog, Mercy.
My nursing career began at Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, where I graduated and started my journey in healthcare. I initially worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Grady providing care in one of the most challenging environments in nursing.
After inpatient care, I transitioned into a variety of nursing roles that allowed me to broaden my expertise and impact: cardiology office practice, industrial nursing, providing health services to employees. Later I delved into pharmacy computer industry teaching RPHs.
My final job: Quality Management professional for a managed care organization, a role I thrived in for 22 years.
Outside of my professional career, I was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross as a first responder for many years. A highlight: Centennial Olympic Stadium during the 1996 Summer Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia.
I’ve has been a long-time resident of the Smoketree subdivision, where we’re lived for over 40 years. I’m grateful for the friendly and supportive community and have served on the board as both Secretary and Vice President.
In addition to my work with the community, I am involved in animal welfare. I initiated the Community Cat program, where we help trap feral cats for spaying and neutering under the nationwide Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. I worked with the feeding stations that support the community’s feral cats, ensuring they are cared for and fed.
I feel my career and volunteer experiences highlight my dedication not only to healthcare but also to our community. And I’m proud to have lived with my wife for over 40 plus years who also gives back to our community.

After graduation, she started a legal services business geared toward working with lawyers. She sold her company in 2018 and retired in 2020. She plans to use her business skills as Co-Treasurer. One of Betsy’s focuses will be re-establishing the non-profit status for the organization. Betsy lives with her wife, Jayne and their Lab mix rescue, Mercy.
